Traffic Police step up checks and enforcement on commercial transport operation

From July 25 to August 25, the Traffic Police Department (C08 – under the Ministry of Public Security) will carry out a comprehensive inspection of commercial transport vehicles on both roads and waterways, in response to ongoing shortcomings in transport management.

On roads, traffic police will focus on inspecting vehicles such as passenger vans with 8 seats or more, heavy trucks, container trucks, and construction material carriers. Inspections will be concentrated on national highways, expressways, steep passes, and accident-prone areas. Officers will check operational conditions, journey monitoring devices, and review video footage for violations such as drivers using mobile phones, not wearing seat belts, driving beyond regulated hours, and picking up or dropping off passengers in unauthorized locations.

For drivers, violations subject to enforcement include: driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, overloading, speeding, running red lights, improper lane use, driving in the wrong direction, illegal overtaking, failure to yield at intersections, and breaches of road transport regulations.

On waterways, traffic police will inspect freight and passenger transport routes, especially in areas with seaports, fishing ports, passenger terminals, docks, dams, and tourist destinations where traffic activity is complex.

The Traffic Police Department affirmed that "there will be no restricted areas or exceptions." Task forces will be fully equipped with vehicles, weapons, and support tools. In cases where vehicles cannot be stopped on the spot, remote (automated) penalties will be applied.
