Inside the CSGT Command Center: AI Cameras Automatically Detect Violations and Send Notifications Within 2 Hours

At 9:00 PM on July 16, officers and staff at the Command Information Center of the Traffic Police Department (under the Ministry of Public Security) were still on duty, processing data transmitted from surveillance cameras across the country.

Data from roadside cameras and patrol vehicles is transmitted to the center, where AI technology analyzes and identifies traffic violations. It captures images, license plates, locations, and cross-references vehicle information with the national database. If a violation is detected, the system automatically sends a notification to the violator within two hours via the VNeTraffic app (for citizens) and the CSGT's internal application.

The AI system can recognize up to 90% of blurred license plates and detect dangerous behaviors such as carrying weapons in public. It can also remember suspect faces and support data retrieval during public security incidents. Additionally, the AI helps trace a vehicle’s journey using vehicle characteristics and license plates to assist in investigating hit-and-run accidents.

Currently, the Traffic Police Department is piloting violation alerts via the VNeTraffic app on four expressways. In the future, it plans to propose a feature allowing citizens to respond to violations online and, if they agree, pay fines accompanied by electronic evidence—simplifying the violation handling process.
